You didn't get stuck on 'God cares more about me vs what I think of him' vs. 'the purpose of my life is ultimately expressed by what I think of God?'

I think there is a world in there worth talking about.

I think - think - that such a truth, if it is (italicized!) truth, would make a wonderful example on the part of God for leaving results in (italicized!) in trust of himself.

This gets funny and more than a bit speculative, but... that God can trust himself. God can trust himself with you. God is not worried where its going... because he knows exactly where it is going... but even if he didnt... if, for example, he took on the limitation of man...

He can trust himself with you then, too. To the point, and past the point, of death.

Worlds and worlds.

Anyways.

I hoped you would comment because I had all these thoughts in an imaginary conversation with you before you did.

For what its worth -

There’s a lot more to unpack here, and before I could clearly communicate my understanding of Scripture, we’d need to define key terms. For example, what does purpose actually mean? How do we define man’s purpose? And what exactly is fear?

And no, I wasn’t stuck. I actually branched into three other aspects of fear while you were speaking but then realized you were zeroing in on a specific aspect of fear—how it relates to discovering truth in relation to man. In that, I think you highlighted a part of the discussion. The rest of the topic has been written by scholars in tens of thousands of pages, many of which I’ve read.

I appreciated your description of the fear of the Lord. The are many other chapters that could be written like trembling, humility, uncleanness, and I wouldn’t rule out reverence too. Although I see the danger with reverence because people love that portion of it and purposefully or foolishly ignore a more complete understanding of the fear of the Lord.

Let’s bookmark this for our next time face to face

If I’d heard it, I’d have made a note.
